Hi to you all in Monroeville, my name is Bill. My family and I will be moving out in the very near future and I am looking to find out more about what "things" we can do for recreation.

Are there any fishing lakes or streams besides the big rivers close by?

Are there any horse stables that we can buy or rent, and maybe stable a horse?

I am also looking for a good christian church that has a very active high school student group. If anyone can help with that I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks in advace for your help

Bill

Monroeville has tons to offer families. Monroeville has various sports for kids, including football, soccer, and baseball/softball. We have a great Parks and Recreation Department with a wide range of classes for children & teens. Visit www.monroeville.pa.us for more info.

We have a Rails to Trails close by called the Yough River Trail, where you can ride bikes, jog, or walk along the Yough River. I am not a fisherman but I would imagine this would be a good location to fish. www.youghrivertrail.org

My neighbor has two horses that she boards at Victory Stables. It is a Christian stable, and I believe they hold activities there. Vist their site for more info... www.victory-stables.com

I hope this information is helpful.
Welcome!

Does this mean that I may not board my Buddhist horse at Victory Stables? Doesn't everyone love christian exclusionism?

Yes we DO!

Glad somebody had the guts to say this... no offense to the original poster; I welcome he and his family to the area regardless of their religious orientation. That said, there's something a bit unseemly about advertising any such business as exclusively "Christian." Then again, when you look at the website, it's evident that the equine services are secondary to the group's proselytization efforts.

I have always believed that the denizens of Monroeville are welcoming of individuals and families of all creeds and lifestyles, even if they own horses. I hope I am never proven wrong.

My kids enjoy going to BY Park, which is a stocked catch and release pond/park on Route 130, just past the intersection with Forbes Road. This is near the Haymaker Shopping Plaza at the southwest end of Haymaker Road. Technically, it is in Trafford, about 100 feet over the border with Monroeville.

Welcome to Monroeville!

Mark

Thank you for your suggestions :) Those links look like a great start in gathering information.

Dear Bill:

Welcome to Monroeville. There are many wonderful churches of many different denominations in the Monroeville area. I am the pastor of The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and I would like to invite you and your family to our church, and your child(ren) to our youth group. We have a variety of youth activities going on year round including our youth band and a monthly contemporary worship service. At the risk of boasting, our youth director is fantastic and one of the most Christ-like people I know. He has had a major positive influence on my son and daughter! You can check out our website at www.goodshepherdlife.org. This coming Monday, June 22 begins our Vacation Bible School program. Our Sunday worship is at 8:00 and 10:30 AM. I hope to meet you in person sometime soon.

God Bless you always,

Pastor Eric Ash
