In response to Jaderose's post on December 3. I am sorry that you were unhappy with your treatment at Northern Pike Veterinary Hospital. I have been using them for the past 18 years and have found that they are kind, compassionate and caring. They know my pet family, and when I bring one of them in, they ask about the others by name. I recently lost my older cat and when I came home from work yesterday, I found a sympathy card from the vet's office. I have heard that they are a little more expensive than other vets in the area. I, however, will continue using them. I have been very happy with their treatment and caring of my pet family, as well as their compassion for me when I have had to make the unfortunate decision to put one of my pets down, and this far outweighs any monetary value. I hope that you find a vet that you are happy with, and good luck with your new litter of puppies.

Thank you for your good wishes for our pups. They are doing great. In response... Northen Pike Vets are far more than a "little more expensive." They charge $665, where Monroeville Vets charges $205 for the same EXACT thing. They are more than triple the price. We did find a vet we can trust... Monroeville Vets did an excelent job and my husband found them to be more caring, personable and knowledgable. We will be using them for our 13 dogs from now on. Once again, thank you for the well wishes.

I am sorry that you feel that you had a bad experience with these vets. I have been using them for over 9 years now and have nothing but good things to say about them. Yes they can be expensive BUT the care that they give to my dogs is well worth it.

And I guess I am confused................you paid $308 for ELEVEN dogs?

To clarify... yes, I was charged their normal vet visit of $35 times 11 for my 4 day old puppies. (They discounted 20% for the litter, making it $308.) $35 usually buys you around 30 to 45 minutes with the vet. We were there 1 hour. To compare... Monroeville Vets charged $40 for the SAME EXACT exam of all 11 puppies. I know they were the SAME EXACT exam because I took the puppies there the next day. In addition, I received an estimate from 2 other vets in our town for $29 for an exam for ALL 11 puppies. I have now spoken with MANY pet owners, some with litters of dogs and some with litters of cats, they have all told me they've never heard of a vet charging per animal in a litter for an exam. Simply unheard of. I hope you are no longer confused.
