Why don't they make the dog park small dog friendly? I had a horriable visit on the 4th of July. I have 2 small dogs. Went to the park with my husband..the dog park was filled with BIG dogs. The ones when we first came in was very friendly..then the german shepherd owner took him off the leash and attacked and bit my dog..my husband pushed the other dog away and the shepherd owner was on his cell phone laughing at us. Thank goodness he didn't draw blood. This will be my first and last time using the park. The other family with a small dog saw us on the way out and they heard the dog screaming. My 8 mos old dog was scared out of his mind thanks to some punk kids not controling there big dogs.

I have been to the dog park hundreds of times, it is a shame that this happened to you, but I have small dogs and I have never had them attacked, nor would I want the park to be cut in half so that there was a small dog section.....White Oak has a dog park for just "small Dogs" if you are worried about your dog.....
As far as the guy on the cell phone...he should have been confronted and his dog should have been removed....there is a number posted to call there are any problems....you should have called that number....
As stated I have never had my dogs attacked and they are both under 25 lbs and they have never been attacked...but they have been pestered by other bigger dogs and you "as the owner" have to take responsibility to get the other dog owner to be responsible for their dog.....
I have had to grab another persons dog twice before, the same lady, because her dog was being aggressive, and I told her she should never bring the dog back to the park.....she did not listen, now if I see her there I leave or I do not go into the park.....
I would give the park another chance, maybe on day that is not so busy....but you have to understand that not all dogs are made for the dog park.....I hate when I see terriers’ there....they try to dominate even the biggest dogs and if they were isolated with only small dogs it would be 10X worse....
